How about an update?

  1. The Giese’s are still in the US, and we are helping FNM in many ways.
  2. Forgotten No More continues to reach out, and more kids are coming to FNM!!!
  3. Social unrest continues in Ethiopia…
  4. We’re appreciating all of FNM’s supporters

From the Gieses – We can’t believe that we’ve been in the US since December.  Time has really gone by quickly.  During this time, Cheryl & I have been sharing about FNM, updating FNM’s CRM system, getting updates from Ethiopia, and realizing that we can do a lot more for FNM by staying in the states during this time than being on the ground in Ethiopia.  There are many factors that that have gone into the decision for us to be here (in the US) at this time.  Regardless of all these factors, we want everyone to know that Forgotten No More is being lead by 2 amazing managers and is 100% operated by Ethiopians.  This is their country, their people, and they (FNM staff) are doing an amazing job, making a huge difference in their community.

Cheryl & I planned from the origin of Forgotten No More, that it should eventually be fully operated by Ethiopians.  We didn’t realize that we’d have to be in the states at this time, but the FNM management and staff have wholly owned this amazing work.  We’ve been getting some pictures and videos from FNM’s managers (when their internet is working), and we’re trying to put them on the website.  I’ll work on the video compilations for you to see how FNM’s work is RAISING UP MANY INDIVIDUALS!!!  PLEASE Continue to Support these guys and we’ll continue to work and support them TOGETHER with you!!!

Making a bed – A way of helping FNM beneficiaries learn tasks to help their families at home.

Meya giving instruction during Social Skills building time…group singing & dance.

Forgotten No More’s programs continue to grow; as more kids and families continue to come for help.

*The bikes of FNM have been one of the activity highlights for our beneficiaries!

These girls have been learning so many skills to help themselves and their families.  We’re so proud of them!!!

SNACK TIME is always a great time for everyone to get together… (see all of the papers in the boxes on the left, that shows how much work they have been doing week after week!)  GREAT JOB Guys!!!

Preparing the Traditional Coffee Ceremony…some of our beneficiaries, who have been coming to FNM for longer than a year, are on their way to conduct their own Coffee Ceremony (one of Ethiopia’s best cultural traditions)

Writing Skills – The kids spend a lot of their Summer time preparing for school work.

Personal Hygiene is a very important aspect of FNM’s training program, helping our beneficiaries take care of themselves.

This is Yohanes.  He’s one of our recent additions to Forgotten No More.So Many Amazing Kids at Forgotten No More!

Ethiopia Travel Warning

LAST UPDATED: AUGUST 25, 2017

The Department of State warns U.S. citizens of the risks of travel to Ethiopia due to the potential for civil unrest and arbitrary detention. There continue to be reports of unrest, particularly in the Gondar region and Bahir Dar in Amhara State, and parts of Oromia State. This replaces the Travel Warning of June 13, 2017.

The Government of Ethiopia has demonstrated its ability and willingness to restrict or shut down internet, cellular data, and phone services, impeding the U.S. Embassy’s ability to communicate with U.S. citizens in Ethiopia and limiting the Embassy’s ability to provide consular services. Additionally, the Government of Ethiopia does not inform the U.S. Embassy of detentions or arrests of U.S. citizens in Ethiopia. (*more on US travel.state.gov website)

Thanks to FNM partners who support the work at Forgotten No More, these kids continue to get very special attention from a very special staff!
Even though Ethiopia is going through some challenging times, the kids continue to come to the FNM Training Center everyday, the staff is amazing, and we appreciate every partner of Forgotten No More…the Greatness that happens at Forgotten No More Continues to Develop these Amazing Kids, Enabling them to SHINE ON!!!
