After turning all of this into…

This…

Nice Tape Job!

Then after 4 planes and 2 days…I rolled up in a Rolls Royce (at least the engine was a Rolls)

I was a little tired, but we unloaded all of the trunks on day 1 and started assembling items on day 2.  We were able to get the soccer goals assembled. (I’ll have more pics in days to come)

These are going to be used extensively!!!

Also on Day 2, after many trips down to Addis Ababa by our Program Manager Mesfin, we finally received renewal of our project for another 3 years.  Yeaaaaaaaa!!!  It was a little struggle, but our managers pulled through.  I told Mesfin to check the stamp to make sure it doesn’t wipe off 🙂 In Ethiopia, the stamp means everything! After hearing the good news, I had lunch with a few of the FNM staff.

Also, I discovered that there is now an official water company named “AVA”.  I have to bring back some “Ava” water for Ava.

A few weeks ago, Sefiager, who works at FNM gave birth to a son.  Then on the day I arrived, Mahalet, who also works at Forgotten No More, gave birth to a little girl.  I’ll see her today. Cheryl told me to take a lot of pictures.

The day I arrived, Bahir Dar had a very heavy rain.  I was told it had been very hot up to that day, and the rain came unexpected.

So, to recap the first 2 days, I arrived in Ethiopia, FNM received the renewal for the project license, it rained (and cooled down Bahir Dar), a new baby arrived, Ava is new water in Ethiopia, and…

…on my flight to Bahir Dar.  I had so many trunks that the airport porters took me around the Economy customer line and walked me through the First Class line.  The person at the counter entered my ticket as “Premium Passenger Boarding Pass”, and I sat in the front of the plane.  I didn’t pay any extra, but I got great service.

I sat buy an Ethiopian who is working for Water.org (Matt Damon is a spokesperson for them).  We exchanged business cards, and I told him to send Matt up to Forgotten No More whenever he comes to town. 🙂

I don’t know how we can top the first 2 days, but I’ll keep the updates coming!

Take Care!

  1. Whew!! What an amazing first two days, Tim! And we are so thankful that all of the trunks’ goodies got through! Even 1st class treatment for you on the next flight!! Wow! That’s God’s hand for sure! Time to chill after a long flight, intense 2 days, and the headiness of it all. Our love and prayers are with you.
    Love,

  3. Tim, I am so thankful that God delivered you safely back to Ethiopia. And with such style! (And maybe a touch of humor). You must be have been exhausted after unpacking all that gear. I praise God for His work through you and Cheryl and your family! Thanks for the update! It’s always so good to hear from you.

    Love and prayers,
    Nellie Rader
